FAIR-DI

FAIR-DI is a Dutch-German collaboration for making data resting in large scientific repositories in the fields of materials, physics, chemistry and astrophysics available to science, society and ultimately industry as well. By enriching data with the help of artificial intelligence you also create new insights that can lead to more societal valorisation of the data.

FAIR-DI e.V. was founded in Amsterdam on 7 September 2018 by the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Gesellschaft in Berlin (the oldest Max Planck Institute), the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology of the Helmholtz Gemeinschaft, the Max Planck Institut für Polymerer Forschung in Mainz, the Max Planck Compute & Data Facility Institute for Technology, NWO Institutes / ASTRON, Radboud University Nijmegen and the University of Twente. This is the result of a concept developed for that purpose by Professor Matthias Scheffler, Max Planck Director at the Fritz Haber Institut and Alexander Brink. Together with the founding parties, they have developed a transnational co-operation and established this new legal entity: FAIR-DI e.V.
In the meantime, several German universities have joined, among which TU Munich, TU Dresden, Universität Ulm and the Institute for Chrystal Growth in Berlin for the Leibniz Institutes. In addition, BASCAT has become a member (collaboration between BASF and the Technische Universität Berlin). From outside The Netherlands and Germany, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the largest French-speaking university in Belgium, L’Université Catholique de Louvain, are also participating.
